Where We've Been...

• File paperwork for incorporation and nonprofit status with the aid of Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts
• Begin accepting tax-deductible donations through Center for Independent Documentary 
• Complete transfer of The Independent/AIVF copyrights and resources to Independent Media Publication
• Launch full-featured Independent website including free online accounts for all former AIVF members and subscribers
• Launch online database for public archives of past Independent articles dating back to 1997 

Where We're Headed... 

• Contact past and prospective advertisers for new contracts for The Independent equally $100,000 for first year
• Print and mail first issue of The Independent which will continue quarterly for the first year; launch will include copies distributed at film festivals
• Raise $20,000 through private donors for Founder's Circle
• Obtain renewals for subscriptions - approximately 3,000-4,000 for first year
• Begin paying all staff
• Ramp up print publication of The Independent to 10 issues per year if fiscally feasible
• Increase ad revenue to former level at $200,000 annually
• Continue publication of The Independent online to keep public archives current
• Commence data entry (from print) to include Independent articles dating earlier than 1997 in the online public archive
• Update and republish books with new names (formerly The AIVF Guide to Film & Video Distributors, The AIVF Film & Video Exhibitors Guide and the Self-Distribution Tool Kit)
