joiningthedots.tv
joiningthedots.tv is a completely new documentary channel. It uses the power of broadband to bring the best documentaries on-demand, direct to your home. We specialise in intelligent, thought provoking films that challenge preconceptions and provide a more coherent picture of the way we live today.
Whatever you are interested in - politics, love, war, culture or religion - joiningthedots.tv brings together a unique collection of films to present a stimulating alternative to the formulaic programming of modern day broadcasters.
We are looking for quality documentaries for the site. We do not aggregate content for the sake of it and therefore we are very choosy about the films we acquire. We have launched with 60 fantastic titles and will be adding 5 - 10 per month.
We are partnered with The Independent newspaper in the UK, who will be running a version of jtd via their website. We will be marrying their editorial excellence with our filmic storytelling by embedding links and trailers in their editorials, which have similar subjects to the films.
All films are piracy protected and territories that may have already gone can be geo-filtered. For the strongest of films we acquire, we will offer the option of selling DVDs via the site. We also have a partnership with Picturehouse cinemas in the UK. They will screen one of our flagship films on a joiningthedots.tv / Independent branded night in a UK wide release every six weeks.

Call for Screenplay Entries to the 12th Annual Rhode Island International Film Festival
The Rhode Island International Film Festival is calling for Screenplay Entries for its 12th annual festival, which takes place August 5-10, 2008 in historic Providence, Rhode Island.
The Festival is accepting screenplays in all genres. Screenplays must have been written after 2005.
Screenplays entered into the competition will be adjudicated by a distinguished panel of industry professionals, educators, peers and film fans. The Grand Prize winner may have segments of the work produced during Take 1-2-3: Filmmaking with the Pros, RIIFF's annual Master Class on Production which features the participation of a noted director or as a central focus during ScriptBiz™ the screenplay pitch forum. The Grand Prize winner will also receive prizes valued at over $15,000. This includes travel, accommodations, Final Draft software and screenplay promotions. Since the contest winners are announced following the main Festival, the Grand Prize winner’s work will be a focal point for RIIFF 2009.
Screenplays will be judged on creativity, innovation, vision, originality and the use of language. The key element is that of communication and how it complements and is transformed by the language of film.
The deadline for 2008 screenplay submissions is July 1, 2008. Winners will be announced by October 13, 2008 (over Columbus Day Weekend) following the main Festival.
Guidelines for Submission and an Entry Form can be downloaded at the Festival’s website: www.RIFilmFest.org.
